According to the Singapore Cancer Registry (2009-2013), lung cancer is the second and third most common cancer in Singaporean men and women, respectively.
Like most cancers, lung cancer can affect individuals not only on a physiological level, but psychologically as well. The Singapore Cancer Society (SCS) Lung Cancer Support Group was formed to address these needs by hosting peer-to-peer support meetings from within the lung cancer community.
All group meetings are facilitated by SCS staff to ensure that each participant is able to give and receive support from one another. There are also talks – specific to lung cancer – conducted by professionals. Such sessions enable the support group members to not only be updated on the latest developments within the field, but also provide them with a reliable platform to voice their concerns and share their opinions on their treatment journey.
